The Board of Governors has an increasingly important role to play in our School. The 1986 Education Act has greatly increased the responsibilities and functions of the Governors in the everyday running of the School, from Finance to Staffing, Discipline and the Curriculum. A booklet outlining their role may be obtained from the School Office. More immediately, the Governors act as a channel through which questions may be asked and various matters examined in detail when necessary. They may represent the views of the Parents to the teaching staff and to outside Bodies such as the Local Education Authority.
Members
The Governing Body consists of members nominated by the County Council, and by the Minor Authority (Tiverton Town Council); members elected by parents and by teachers; and members co-opted by the nominated and elected members. The Headteacher may choose to be a Governor.

As Governors, these people are ready to give time to School matters. Whilst they do not know the School as well as the teachers, there may be times when you wish to talk about the School to someone who is not a teacher. If so, please feel free to contact one of the people listed above‑ especially the Parent Governors whom you have elected.
